Ruphina Chettiar is Head of the Process Improvement Centre of Excellence and Knowledge Champion for the Banking and Financial Services Unit at Tata Consultancy Services. She holds a Masters degree in Computer Applications and has over 20 years of work experience in the industry, of which 9 years were in Software Delivery and Project management. For the past 11 years, Ruphina has been part of the Delivery Excellence Group driving Process Deployments and Improvements. Ruphina is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. Under her guidance, the unit has won Best Process Improvement Awards across TCS consistently. Ruphina has presented two papers related to Lean and its adoption in IT at past CMMI Conferences.

First Time Right : Holistic Approach to Causal Analysis

The First Time Right Framework is a holistic approach to Causal Analysis and Resolution (CAR) that works well in Agile projects. Based on the pillars of People, Process, Technology, this has helped the IT team for a Global bank's Internet Banking software to improve their product quality. Simple Innovative tools such as Employee Engagement Surveys (based on the Three Component Model of Commitment), Skill Matrix for Team competency, Value Stream Maps, Residual Defect Analysis and Automation (Tools) helped to reduce System Testing defects by 60% in the next 3 releases over 6 months. This framework is re-usable and has been applied in 6 programs with significant improvement in product quality.
